Libby Ballard Ceramics was founded in 2014 having studied at The University of Brighton and leaving with a BA in 3D Materials Practice (Wood, Metal, Ceramics and Plastics.) Ceramics from the very start was what I was obsessed with and found that working with clay and its tactile nature is what has kept my love for it growing.
The sea and coastal landscapes are the main inspirations for my practice. Using photography as a starting point to capture my interests in colour, shape and form, I use a blend of flecked stoneware clays, and experiment with different glazes and textures to achieve the desired effects. Practicality and comfort is really important to me when making my tableware. I like all my pieces to be comforting to use, so that they add to your whole dining experience each time you use them. I believe it is so important to enjoy food and what you are eating and why shouldnt this go right through to what you eat and drink from? Even if it is just you that you are treating!
Having recently moved to Bath and moving into a Studio at The Pound Arts in Wiltshire I am so excited to explore the surroundings to bring more of the countryside into my ceramics.
