This ceramic serving bowl measures approximately , so it’s big enough for serving up sharing dishes at gatherings but not so large that it feels out of place on the table for everyday meals.
The handmade process
Each of these hand-thrown serving bowls is hand-glazed on the inside with a shiny transparent glaze that highlights the natural speckle of the clay. I then dip the outside once in a light green glaze, right up to the rim and again about halfway in an indigo glaze to give a gorgeous blend of colours. Finally, the bottom of the bowl is wiped clean to leave a rim of natural clay, creating a lovely contrast in textures.
Because they’re hand-thrown on my potter’s wheel in my Wiltshire studio, no two ceramic bowls are identical, but that’s what I love about handmade ceramics.
