This ceramic cup and saucer set was made for enjoying tea the way it should be, with a big cup! Just right for curling up with a warming brew, I love it for creating your own little teatime ritual at home.
How big is it?
This hand-thrown cup is made slightly larger than your average tea cup to give you a proper cuppa you can really take your time to enjoy.
The handmade process
Each of these hand-thrown ceramic cups is glazed inside and out with a shiny white glaze that highlights the natural speckle of the clay. I then dip the bottom half of the outside in one of four of my glaze combos. Finally, the bottom of the cup is wiped clean to leave an unglazed rim, creating a lovely contrast in textures where the clay shows through at the bottom. Misty Morning is a soft, pale grey-blue with a subtle speckled texture that reminds me of the quiet calm before the day begins.
The saucers are shaped on the wheel and glazed on the top with my classic white. The clay on the underside is left unglazed so you get that lovely contrast in texture of the rough, natural clay and the smooth, velvety glaze.
Because they’re hand-thrown on my potter’s wheel in my Wiltshire studio, each ceramic cup and saucer is completely one-of-a-kind, but that’s what I love about handmade ceramics.
