Any meal feels fancy when you start with a little ceramic dipping bowl of olives or olive oil with fresh bread for dipping. This simple bowl will bring a little luxurious handmade touch to your dinner table, whatever is on the menu.
How big is it?
Each dipping bowl is the perfect size for sauces, snacks, or sides. At just over 8cm wide, they’re small enough for filling with those little nibbles, but generous enough to actually fit the portion you want to eat! It’s also a good size for housing small things around the home, like gathering loose change on your hallway table, or keeping salt and spices by the cooker.
The handmade process
I glaze each handmade ceramic dipping bowl on the inside with my classic white glaze before dipping it from the rim down in one of three different colours on the outside. The top of this dipping bowl is coated in a soft, speckled white, while the bottom is left unglazed to reveal the natural clay beneath, giving a lovely tactile contrast in textures.
Because they’re hand-thrown on my potter’s wheel in my Wiltshire studio, no two ceramic bowls are ever the same, but that’s what I love about handmade ceramics.
The little ceramic spoon, if you choose to add one, is handmade by me. These are unglazed, with just a drop of white glaze on the spoon part.
