Description

This little, handleless ceramic jug is one of those underrated kitchen essentials that you’ll find yourself using again and again. I love it for serving milk if you’re sharing a pot of tea with some friends, but it works just as well for sauces or custard at the dinner table, too.

A lovely speckled milk jug that is comfy to hold with a gorgeous velvety feel.

How big is it?

This ceramic jug holds approximately 280ml, making it just the right size for serving milk alongside a pot of tea or cafetiere of coffee.

The handmade process

Each of these ceramic milk jugs is first glazed all over with my classic white glaze before being dipped from the bottom up in a grey glaze. The coloured glaze comes about halfway up the jug, and I wipe the base of the jug clean to reveal a rim of natural clay. This creates a beautiful contrast in textures where the clay can be seen at the bottom.

Because they’re hand-thrown on my potter’s wheel in my Wiltshire studio, no two ceramic jugs are exactly the same, but that’s what I love about handmade ceramics.

Looking for a handmade gift?

Because this little milk jug doubles as a ceramic vase, I think it’s a bit of a special gift for gardeners or plant lovers. Whilst it may not fit a traditional bunch, they can fill it with a few carefully picked flowers from the garden. Alternatively, if they’re precious about their blooms and prefer to leave them uncut, this ceramic jug can be filled with a little milk for their post-pruning cuppa as a reward for all their hard work!

If you are buying this as a present and want me to wrap it for you, simply select the ‘Gift Wrap’ option once it’s in your cart, and I’ll ensure your hand-thrown ceramic jug is beautifully packaged so it’s ready for you to gift straight away.
