Description
Every home needs a ceramic milk jug. They’re one of those kitchen essentials that you don’t think you need until you’ve got it, and then you use it all the time. Perfect for a splash of milk with coffee in the morning, for a drop of cream for cake with friends in the afternoon and a pouring custard over pudding at dinner. And this handless jug is just the right size for holding any teeny buds or small flowers leftover from a larger bouquet too.
How big is it?
This ceramic jug holds approximately 280ml, making it just the right size for serving milk alongside a pot of tea or cafetiere of coffee.
The handmade process
Each of these ceramic milk jugs is first glazed all over with my classic white glaze before being dipped from the bottom up in a light blue glaze. The coloured glaze comes about half way up the jug and I wipe the base of the jug clean to reveal a rim of natural clay. This creates a beautiful contrast in textures where the clay can be seen at the bottom.
Because they’re hand-thrown on my potter’s wheel in my Wiltshire studio, no two ceramic jugs are exactly the same, but that’s what I love about handmade ceramics.
Looking for a handmade gift?
This little ceramic milk jug is such a thoughtful gift for tea lovers and coffee addicts. It’s just the right size for keeping milk on the table when sharing a cafetiere of coffee at breakfast or a pot of tea in the afternoon. I think it makes a lovely birthday or Christmas present, or even a thoughtful gift for a new home.
Pair this handless jug with their favourite blend of coffee or some nice tea bags, and they’ll always remember the first cup they enjoy once they’ve finally unpacked the kitchen.
If you are buying this as a present and want me to wrap it for you, simply select the ‘Gift Wrap’ option once it’s in your cart, and I’ll ensure your hand-thrown ceramic jug is beautifully packaged so it’s ready for you to gift straight away.
